a Music Day Camp for Kids & Teens
Get ready for an exciting, creative, and enriching week of music-making at Westlake Music Academy! Open to students of all experience levels, our camp offers dynamic group performances and hands-on breakout sessions led by expert instructors in Musical Theatre, Music Theory, Songwriting, Rock Band, and more.
Designed for students in grades K–12, the camp is divided into two age groups—K–5 and 6–12—to ensure age-appropriate instruction and fun. Younger campers will explore music through engaging activities that build confidence, creativity, and stage presence. Older students will dive deeper into musical collaboration, sharpen their skills, and create meaningful performances together.
Whether your child is picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to take their talent to the next level, this is a summer experience they won’t forget. Music, friendship, and memories that last a lifetime await!

Breakout Sessions
Marcus Klotz - Music Theory (grades 6-12)
Marcus Klotz is a singer, music educator, and conductor. He has been teaching private music lessons for 10 years. Many of his students have gone on to pursue music full-time and have had much success. He has recently served as faculty at Pepperdine University, teaching and conducting the Concert Choir. Formerly, Klotz served as a faculty member of the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach where he directed the university’s treble chorus Bel Canto, and served as the assistant conductor of the Bob Cole Chamber Choir.
Klotz holds a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from CSU Long Beach and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance from Pepperdine University. He currently serves as the choir director & worship leader at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village and as a Professor of Voice at Moorpark College. In addition, he performs regularly with the LA Master Chorale in prestigious concert spaces such as the Hollywood Bowl and Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Christy P Klotz is a singer, songwriter, teacher, and worship leader. She leads worship and performs her own music throughout Southern California and beyond. Christy has overseen several student music programs, and worked as the Worship Director at Crosspointe Church. She has gone on to release several songs under her artist project, “Christy P Klotz”, and has also written songs for TV/Film with songs under publishing groups Black Toast Music, Melodie, Imaginary Friends, and Crucial Music. She continues to write with many current artists including Erin Kinsey and EASHA. She is proficient on vocals, piano, guitar, writing, and producing. Christy is passionate about teaching and empowering the next generation to create meaningful music. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising with a Minor in Music as well as a Master of Science in Ministry from Pepperdine University. Christy currently works as a singer and songwriter for several projects, and as a Worship Director for Young Adults at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village.
Christy Klotz - Songwriting (grades 6-12)
Jordan Birgy-Krasnoff - Musical Theatre Senior (6-12), Musical Theatre Junior (K-5)
Jordan Birgy-Krasnoff is a singer, performer, and teacher based in Ventura County. She began her undergraduate training at Moorpark College, where she completed her Associate of Arts before transferring to California State University, Fullerton where she graduated with her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. With a background in classical voice and musical theatre performance, Jordan loves exploring all of the different colors and qualities the human voice is capable of. Her most recent roles were Sibella in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder and Cheryl Ann in Catch Me if You Can, both at Conejo Players Theatre, as well as Greta Fiorentino in CSUF Opera’s production of Street Scene.
In addition to theatrical roles, Jordan has also enjoyed many performance opportunities as an ensemble member. She has performed at the Hollywood Bowl several times with Andrea Bocelli, and most recently in Everybody Rise! A Sondheim Celebration, where she accompanied Broadway legends including Patti LuPone, Sierra Boggess, and Sutton Foster.
Annie Wang - Music Theory Junior (K-5)
Annie Wang has more than 35 years of experience teaching piano. She has taught in Taiwan, Australia, Germany, and the United States. In 2001, she received a BA in Music Teaching from the University of Western Australia. Annie invented the Rainbow Piano Technique, a color-based method to help beginners start learning the piano.
She has written two novels, “White Pumpkin Seed” and “The Piano Presenter,” both of which involve the topic of piano and are set in Taiwan. Annie also taught her son some of the most challenging piano concert pieces, including Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, Grieg’s Piano Concerto, and Rachmaninoff’s Second and Third Concertos, which he performed with the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic.
Gavin Valladares - Rock Band (6-12), Worship Band Beginner (K-5)
Gavin Valladares is a drummer. But he doesn't stop there. He is a passionate multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who thrives on collaboration. A lover of various genres, his diverse musical taste influences his decisions as a composer and a performer.
He has played on domestic and international tours, adding a notable touch to every project he works on. Gavin studied Jazz and Latin styles in college and under renowned drummers, including Burleigh Drummond of Ambrosia. Gavin stays busy touring for several bands and artists from Southern California.
As an experienced promoter and producer, Gavin has earned a reputation for bringing quality talent to numerous concert lineups. He also organizes and executes his concerts and festivals, including his Flawed System Fest held in the hills of Topanga Canyon, CA. He enjoys bringing immersive community experiences to life by mixing music, art, food, and curated vendors in his events to provide attendees with memorable, multi-faceted events."

What’s the schedule?
Each Day, camp will look like the following:
9-9:30 - All ages all together. Warm-ups and group number rehearsal
9:35-10:20 - Breakout #1
10:20-35 - Snack/Bathroom
10:35-11:20 - Breakout #2
11:25-12:00 - Group Number Rehearsal & Solo Performances
Camp will conclude with a showcase at 12 pm on August 8! The musical theatre, songwriting, rock band, and worship band breakout classes will perform, along with the group number.
CAMP POLICY DETAILS:
Registration: Please fill out the registration form, and pay the tuition fee to reserve your spot. To inquire about paying in installments, reach out to marcusandchristy@westlakemusicacademy.com.
Snacks: Snacks will need to be provided for your child every day that they come to camp. Please do not pack them anything that requires being heated with a microwave or stove, or anything that requires refrigeration.We will strongly discourage sharing foods to limit cross-contamination of potential allergens, but do let us know if your child has any severe food allergies we should be aware of.
Water: Your child will need to bring their water bottle to stay hydrated all day.
What to wear: Please make sure your child dresses in clothing that is comfortable, weather-appropriate, and easy to move in. Footwear should be closed-toe shoes.
What to bring each day: Each day, your child should bring with them their water bottle, a pencil, their packed snacks, and a positive attitude! WMA or Calvary will not be responsible for any items that are lost, stolen, or damaged. Therefore, ask that you label your child’s items that could get mixed-up (like snack boxes) and to leave any personal items of value or importance at home.
Pick-up and drop-off: If your child is K-5, please walk them in each day. If your child is in grades 6-12, we will leave it up to the parent. Parents of students K-5 will sign them in. Students must be dropped off between 8:45-9:00am. We begin the camp day at 9:00am sharp. At pick-up time, please come to sign-out your child, if they are grades K-5. They must be signed-out by the designated names given on their registration form. If they are grades 6-12, we will leave it up to the parent. Pick-up time is at 12:00pm. Please try your best to be punctual. If your child has not been picked up by 12:15pm, we will call their designated pick-up parent or guardian, and there will be a $15 late pick-up fee incurred to be paid in cash. If by 12:20pm your child has still not been picked up, and if we cannot get ahold of you, we will call the emergency contact.
Personal medication: If your child needs medication during the day, or has an inhaler or epi pen, the camp staff is not authorized to administer the medication, and therefore, your child will need to be able to administer it themselves while in the presence of a teacher. If they cannot administer their own medication, a parent or guardian will need to come to administer it for them. We can keep and store the medication on site, but it must be in a labeled ziplock bag and must also have the original pharmacy label on it for dosage information and name verification purposes.
Withdrawing from Summer Sounds: We understand that sometimes situations change, and you may not be able to attend camp anymore after already signing-up. If you have to withdraw before July 1st, you’ll receive a full refund. If you withdraw between July 1st-July 12th, you will receive a 50% refund. If you withdraw after July 12th, you will receive a 25% refund.
